Estill Voice Training II: Three Basic Voice Qualities

Samstag, 2. Oktober, 14h00 - 16h00

Building on the first session, this workshop will introduce three of the Basic Voice Qualities taught in Estill Voice Training: Sob, Twang, and Belt.  In addition to its commitment to vocal health, Estill Voice Training is dedicated to empowering every vocalist to realize his or her full vocal potential. The main goal will be to provide participants with some fresh ideas and exercises to cultivate greater vocal versatility.  We will also demonstrate how these Qualities can be applied to solve common vocal problems. This session will also include lecture, group participation and open coaching with ample opportunity for questions.

Robert Sussuma, a voice and movement educator with a unique background, Robert brings together his expertise in the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education and Estill Voice Training (along with other modalities and experiences) to create a learning environment that integrates the whole self into the study of voice and voice into the study of the whole self. He recognizes that one cannot study voice alone without looking at one’s habits of self-use in breathing, standing and moving. Through movement and sound awareness exercises, he helps students become aware of and reorganize their own habitual “posture” and learn to find a more neutral, efficient and free use of self in life, learning, practice and performance. When one understands the relationships between breathing, moving, dynamic stillness, singing/speaking and expression one can ‘learn how to learn’ in a way that allows for performance with maximum vocal and physical choice throughout the entire creative process.
